If you are currently employed in the legal field or with any government agency, you can become a member of Legal Staff Professionals of South Carolina. The membership dues for the tri-level association are $130 (plus $25 for state and varying amounts for local dues).
Why NALS? Why Legal Staff Professionals of South Carolina? Why the local chapter? Because the members of this tri-level association are among the best in the legal field. As a team we make things happen. Legal teams need motivation, and Legal Staff Professionals of South Carolina is the association that can plant that motivation. With statewide networking, numerous certification and educational opportunities, community outreach, and social activities, LSPSC drives its members into the future with confidence and professionalism!
The demand for certified legal staff is constantly growing, and the need for professional legal staff members is a must.

On November 12, 2015, the Supreme Court of South Carolina adopted Rule 429, SCACR, and Appendix G to Part IV, SCACR, a program for the voluntary certification of paralegals in South Carolina. The purpose of the paralegal certification program is to assist in the delivery of legal services to the public by identifying individuals who are qualified by education, training, and experience and who have demonstrated knowledge, skill, and proficiency to perform substantive legal work under the direction and supervision of a lawyer licensed in South Carolina.
For qualifications in pursuing certification, fees, and recertification, see Advance Sheet No. 44 (November 12, 2015). Also see Advance Sheet No. 16 dated April 19, 2017, amending section IX(A)(2) of Appendix H to include the Professional Paralegal designation offered by the National Association for Legal Professionals (NALS) and denying the request to permit a person to be certified by experience.
